Kannamma, I am a space-timescope expert (Kannamma poem 5)

Kannamma, our existence is made up
of the frames of space-time.
This existence is like a
space-time movie.
Do you know this?
I have a wish.
If you know it, you may laugh at me.

During an age when our feelings sprang out,
the feelings I felt towards you
and your appearance at that time,
yes, it was early in the morning.
Still, I feel those feelings; still,
I remember your appearance.
You came walking with swaying hips.
Do you remember that?
Holding the books to your chest,
looking at the ground,
you were walking that time.
That was your style of walking.
I always wondered how you could see
the things in front of you
while walking and looking at the ground.

Your smiling face
with a pottu on your forehead,
as usual, added beauty to that morning.
As you turned at an intersection,
you turned around and looked at me.
Your appearance in that moment
has been trapped in my unconscious mind
forever.

On Canadian Tamil Literature!

Diaspora Tamil literature is a common term denoting the literature of expatriate Tamils. Tamil people live worldwide in many countries, including Western countries. Most of them migrated to other countries after the communal riots that happened in 1983, which is generally known as 'Black July '83.' Now, more than thirty years have passed since they left. During this time, the diaspora literature of Tamils has achieved many milestones in various literary forms such as short stories, poems, dramas, novels, and non-fiction.

The common, general term 'diaspora literature' for the Tamil people is no longer needed, as the literature of the Tamil diaspora has matured in the soil where they live. Since countries differ in terms of their culture, language, economy, and politics, the literature produced in each country also varies based on these factors. Therefore, the general term 'diaspora literature' for Tamil people does not accurately depict the true nature of Tamil diaspora literature.

Many critics have already begun to use terms like Canadian Tamil Literature, British Tamil Literature, Australian Tamil Literature, French Tamil Literature, and so on. This is the right way to approach this matter.

In this context, it is better to explore some aspects of Canadian Tamil Literature. The views expressed here on this topic won't be detailed or researched but will serve as examples to initiate the discussion.

The Damsels Of The Night Sky And Their Giggles. ♡

Outside,
darkness envelops the night sky,
which extends infinitely.
Space expands,
and the stars giggle.

The damsels of the night sky.

“Oh, the Women of darkness!
Can you share your secrets with me?”

The Wanderers Of The Sky And Their Cry Of Melancholy.

Lying in bed, the sounds of the rainy night and the view of the gloomy sky touch my heart deeply. It has been raining cats and dogs since dawn. Rain. The tears of refugees, the tears of stateless wanderers of the sky— the clouds.

My Humble Request To The Bellicose Rulers Of The World!

This is my humble request
to the bellicose rulers
of the world.

Do you know Ashoka?

Ashoka the Great,
a great Indian emperor
who ruled the country
two thousand years ago.

He, once a warmonger,
became a great
peacemonger.

He, once a warrior,
transformed into a great
pacifist.

The Tropical Man!

While lying on the bed,
I glanced through the windows
to see the urban night sky.

The sky without stars!

Melancholic thoughts engulf me.

Thoughts of the tropical night
bring back the good old memories
of the land
I left a long time ago.
